Why You Should Support Breast Cancer Awareness

Last week, I received a partnering opportunity to help Glamulet spread the word about breast cancer awareness.

I’m always super excited to participate in good causes, but this time it was different.

In July, cancer took away my uncle and just before Christmas my BFF’s brother left her alone after a long suffering.

That’s why, I’ve been staring at the white screen on my mac for a whole week before getting the courage to write a single line.

But more importantly, it took me a week to realize that, unfortunately, cancer is steadily spreading and it’s expected to grow in the future.

show5Concerning breast cancer, it’s estimated that each year, in the US, over 220,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die.

Nonetheless, nobody wants to experience such pain ever. But, what I saw from people undergoing therapy is just plain, charming courage, and a wonderful will to live any given moment.

For this reason, Glamulet’s mission is to raise funds for charities that support breast cancer.

What they’re doing is awesome:

Glamulet created a limited line of jewelry pink charms especially crafted to support the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. For every Pink Charm you’ll buy, they give 50% of the sales to breast cancer charities.

I believe, when it comes to breast cancer, a woman is touched in her deepest, fullest soul, because our breast is a symbol of life, love and femininity.

Life, Love and Feminity

If you’ve ever seen a newborn you know what I mean.

For every baby, mommy’s breast means life and nurture, and the softest love cushion to press the face on for a nap.

I‘ve been in search of my mom’s nipples ’til the age of three, she says.

And I admit that every time I’ve felt in danger in my life, the only thing I wanted was to slap my face on her chest and feel secured.

That’s why, I can only imagine the shock a woman experiences when she’s diagnosed with breast cancer, and how her life and her confidence change.

Let’s Stop Breast Cancer By 2050

Glamulet, together with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, wants to stop breast cancer by 2050, and it’s doable.

In fact, if on the one hand cancer is spreading in every Country, on the other hand, the World Health Organization states that early detection is the most effective method to stop the killing:

“Early detection in order to improve breast cancer outcome and survival remains the cornerstone of breast cancer control.” WHO – world health organization

In a nutshell, early detection comes form awareness:

If you know your enemy and you know how to recognize it quickly, chances that you’ll wipe it out grow.

As the World Health Organization reports, there are two early detection methods, and here’s the first one:

“early diagnosis or awareness of early signs and symptoms in symptomatic populations in order to facilitate diagnosis and early treatment”

WHO – World Health Organization

Glamulet is doing a wonderful job with Pink Charms, and I love the idea of buying something that benefits other women.

Wether you contribute with a purchase, or just help me spread the word on social media or email about breast cancer awareness, any effort from your end means the world.

So please share this post as much as you can, and write your thoughts in the comments. When it comes to helping other women, like you and me, a deep connection is created, and I believe it will change somebody’s day.
